Poetic Pause XIII

MR. ILLUSIVE

Studied that person from afar

found him illusive

as he stood at the bar

Looked again –

while he made his life clear

By actions and words

and double dealings

Was wary of that person

as they entered my space

Some saw a smile –

I saw an impudent face

Stood at arms length –

as they increased their demands

Their self-centred world:

‘please please me’ – talking

with their hands

Whatever scheme they proffer

I greeted with suspicious stare

Vying for your attention

Telling you they ‘forgot to mention’…

And before you know it

They’re off with your hard earned cash

You signed the dotted line

Inferior goods are yours – this time

Once bitten twice shy

Last of your dealings with this guy
