Imagine a lift/elevator going to the top floor. It’s a gradual process. As is a kettle coming to the boil. As is a petrol tank being filled with petrol. As is a young child growing through the years.
In this world It doesn’t reach rock-bottom in moral degradation before a gradual decline
Conversely a society in moral decline doesn’t reach the top floor of moral revival before a gradual rising up.
Are you – am I – on the way up, or on the way down? Remember it’s gradual.
What about change? Well it can be sudden or gradual.
28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendour, talking with Jesus.
In this instance Jesus changed in His appearance. We might say the divine nature within the man Jesus completely took over.
Prayer brings change. Sudden or gradual.
As the divine nature works in the Christian believer, He brings change suddenly or gradually. Both are wonderful.
I wonder at what stage of change are you – am I?
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
